Between
Genre art depicts scenes from everyday life, the small moments between life's great events.
What did the man say that got such a reaction from his friends? What's the book about, and how does it end?
Narrative art can give clues about what's going on, but it also invites the viewer to fill int parts of the story.
Some of the pictures in this exhibition have an accompanying drawing.
When two pictures are placed in sequence, they can create a tension between them.
By juxtaposing picture in this way, I've attempted to approach two other art forms that are leading in narrative art today: film and comics.
The exhibition has received funding from Arts Promotion Centre Finland, Svenska Kulturfonden, and Svensk-Österbottniska samfundet.
Vöråvägen med pensel
A series of landscapes painted along Vöråvägen in Finland. Each picture includes the place where I was standing when painting the next picture.
That makes the entire series a chain, depicting roughly 17 km of road, and the landscape beside it. The project was supported by Svenska Kulturfonden and Svensk-Österbottniska Samfundet.
